Life cycle & inspection

From the factory to resale

1 · Approval

The manufacturer affixes the CSC plate. It shows the date before which the first examination is due – no more than five years after manufacture.

2 · Operation

After that the owner has the container examined at intervals of no more than 30 months. The next examination date is marked on the container, close to the plate.

3 · ACEP

Alternatively an approved continuous examination programme: examination at major repair, refurbishment or on-/off-hire interchange, at least every 30 months. Marking: "ACEP".

4 · Tank

Tank containers also have their own calendar: intermediate test after 2.5 years, periodic test at least every 5 years.

5 · Second life

After the lease, containers enter the second-hand trade or continue as storage and office containers.

The duty lies with the owner

The CSC expressly places responsibility for keeping a container safe on its owner. Whoever owns a container also owns its examination calendar.

What that means: in a container investment, the question of who organises examination and maintenance belongs in the contract. NOBLE explicitly lists fleet management as part of its offering.
